With it’s “home improvement” crew of astronauts, the Space Shuttle Endeavor are blasting off into the night sky after being assured of good weather and are now bound for the International Space Station (ISS).

The mission is commandeered by NASA astronaut Chris Ferguson, and the seven-man crew includes Pilot Eric Boe, Mission Specialists Donald Pettit, Heidemarie Stefanyshyn-Piper, Steve Bowen, Shane Kimbrough and Sandra Magnus.

The shuttle blasted of a few seconds before 8 p.m. EST and it’s smoke trail could be seen for miles.

The Endeavour’s astronauts will be installing additional kitchen and bathroom modules to the ISS to pave the way for the crew expansion. NASA plans to double the station’s crew by next year.

The Endeavor and its crew will be spending 15 days at the ISS and in orbit. They packed their Thanksgiving turkey just in case.

The Cape Canaveral crew are now prepping the Space Shuttle Endeavour for a nighttime launch on a space station remodeling mission.

Preparations include filling the shuttle’s external tanks with liquid nitrogen and liquid oxygen at 10:30 a.m. Friday.

NASA officials calculated that the weather has a 70% chance of giving the Endeavour a good launch window and will give mission control the go ahead for the 7:55 p.m. launch. About a fourth of all shuttle missions start at night.

The Endeavour is heading over to the International Space Station(ISS) to deliver and rework a new bathroom, kitchenette, an exercise machine, two bedrooms and a system capable of turning urine into drinking water.
