Pakistan troop movement

Pakistan‘s recent troop movement towards the shared Pakistan-Indian border heightened tensions between the two nuclear-armed countries.

Pakistan’s movement is believed to show India that Pakistan will be ready to retaliate if India launches any attack on Pakistan soil. More of a defensive move than an offensive.

“We don’t want to fight, we don’t want to have war, we don’t want to have aggression with our neighbors,” Pakistani Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani in a televised speech.

Still, Gilani said the country’s military was “fully prepared” to respond to any Indian aggression.(AP)

India is currently reeling from the three-day siege staged by terrorists on Mumbai. India has blamed Pakistan for the terror attack. The siege left 164 dead.

India and Pakistan have fought three wars over Kashmir, a region in the Himalayas claimed by both countries.
